Dosing and concentration
Read the concentration first
A 0.15% weight/volume nasal solution contains 1.5 mg per mL, or 1,500 micrograms per mL. The number of micrograms delivered depends on how much liquid the particular dropper or pump releases.
For example, if a device is documented to deliver 0.05 mL, that volume of a 1.5 mg/mL solution contains 75 micrograms. This demonstrates the calculation; it does not establish the output of an unidentified pump or prescribe a number of sprays.
Why published and online amounts differ
Medical references and clinical reports concern particular nasal formulations. Online instructions often describe different concentrations, spray devices, derivatives or routes. A daily amount copied without those details can be misleading even when the arithmetic looks correct.
Dose information: 250–900 micrograms daily is not a universal nasal dose. The concentration and amount delivered by each drop or spray must be known. Use the instructions for the actual preparation and confirm the daily schedule; nasal directions cannot be converted into an injection schedule.
Record concentration, output per spray or drop, number used and total micrograms. If the delivered volume is not documented, the amount cannot be reconstructed accurately from “two sprays.”
Preparation and reconstitution
A ready-made nasal solution
Ready-made drops are already formulated. They should not be topped up with bacteriostatic water. Adding liquid changes concentration and may alter the preservative balance, acidity and suitability for the nose.
Keep the original dispenser with its bottle. If a pump requires priming, follow its own directions; priming sprays are not administrations. Do not transfer a nasal solution into an injection vial.
A lyophilised vial
Lyophilised means freeze-dried. Reconstitution means adding an appropriate liquid to dissolve the peptide. A dissolved peptide is not necessarily a correctly formulated nasal medicine: the liquid base, concentration, acidity, preservative, container and pump all affect the finished preparation.
Bacteriostatic water usually contains benzyl alcohol. It is not an automatic substitute for the liquid used in a formulated nasal product. The preservative in the documented 0.15% Selank nasal preparation is different. Choosing a diluent therefore requires instructions for the specific preparation, not a general peptide recipe.
Before a prepared product is used, its record should identify the exact compound, amount, final volume, route, preparation date and after-opening limit. A missing pump output is a missing dose measurement, not a cosmetic labelling detail.
Administration
Nasal administration places liquid on the lining inside the nose. A blocked or irritated nose can make delivery less predictable. Follow the product's positioning instructions, keep the dispenser tip clean and avoid sharing the bottle.
Drops and sprays are different devices. Forcefully sniffing liquid into the throat is not evidence of better brain delivery; an unpleasant taste can mean some liquid has drained backwards. Do not immediately repeat an amount because the taste or sensation was different.
Selank nasal drops and sprays must never be injected. An injection under the skin uses a different formulation and absorption route, so neither its amount nor its preparation can be worked out from a nasal bottle.
Routes and bioavailability
Swallowed peptides encounter stomach acid, digestive enzymes and the intestinal barrier. Some peptide molecules are broken down before enough intact compound reaches the bloodstream. Nasal delivery avoids that initial digestive route, although absorption still depends on the formulation and technique.
Absorption through the nose does not mean the entire amount reaches the brain. The amount reaching the blood and the amount reaching the brain are different. A precise percentage cannot be assigned to every Selank spray.
Some oral medicines work directly on the gut lining. Selank is intended to affect anxiety-related signalling, not to treat the gut lining. Low oral absorption is not a reason to swallow a nasal preparation.
Half-life
Selank breaks down quickly, but a precise half-life for the nasal preparation is uncertain. Do not use a minutes-long estimate as a redosing timer.
Storage
Keep nasal products under their own labelled temperature and after-opening conditions. Refrigeration instructions for one finished solution do not establish a shelf life for another concentration or a home-prepared bottle.
Record opening date and discard date separately from the printed expiry. Protect the container from heat, keep the cap on and avoid touching the dispenser tip. Do not freeze a product unless its directions explicitly permit it.
A clear-looking solution can still be contaminated. Changes in appearance, a damaged dispenser or an uncertain storage history are reasons to have the product assessed, rather than adding preservative or filtering it at home.
Contraindications and side effects
Avoid Selank during pregnancy or breastfeeding, under age 18, or if you are allergic to its ingredients. Watch for nasal irritation, unpleasant taste and allergic symptoms.
Review sedatives, psychiatric medicines, alcohol and other products for focus or sleep before combining them with Selank. Do not abruptly stop a prescribed anxiety medicine to replace it.
Seek urgent help for breathing difficulty, facial swelling, collapse or a severe reaction. A major deterioration in mood, agitation or inability to function also calls for medical assessment rather than increasing the amount.
Tracking progress and everyday questions
Choose one or two goals before comparing days: time spent worrying, ability to complete a task, or how long it takes to fall asleep. Record a baseline first and keep the same simple scale. Include unwanted effects and days with no improvement.
“Calm” should still allow normal alertness and engagement. Feeling emotionally flat, unusually sleepy or impaired is not a target to pursue.
Does Selank replace therapy? No. Therapy teaches coping skills and addresses the causes of anxiety. Should you add Semax? There is no established extra benefit from that combination, and adding both makes effects harder to assess.
